Regular Internet Users are today bombarded with boat-laods of Emails each day, and it sometimes becomes difficult to search for the important emails.
Last week Microsoft Office Labs announced a new MS Outlook addon, which assigns priorities from 0 to 3, to the arriving emails. This priorities is assigned based upon your preferences. There seems to be many factors taken into consideration while deciding the priorities, including the name of the sender, whether the receiver is added in ‘To, or ‘CC’ or BCC’. You can also change or assign the priorities.
Email Prioritizer also has a DO NOT DISTURB feature, which allows you to restrict receiving new emails for a specifies time from 10 minutes to 4 hours.
The product is still in development stage, and Microsoft is collecting User Data to further improve upon it.
Email Prioritizer is a plug-in for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (running on Exchange Server) that helps you manage email overload. This concept test provides a “do not disturb” button that temporarily pauses new email arrival, and prioritizes email with a 0-3 star rating system. We hope this prototype helps you focus on the emails that are most important to you.

This could actually be very helpful. I work at a job where any given day I can get into the office with 500 emails in my inbox waiting to be processed. I have already set up some complex folder system, but it would be nice to be able to prioritize those emails in a way that actually gives me a priority list. I will be interested to see how this pans out.

The approach that I try is to only process email a few times a day and not have it checked all the time. But this is a cool addon for work, when the work comes in and prioritized by certain contracts, i.e. one that needs to be done asap or one that has a week to go. Thanks!

Truly sounds like something I can use. I’m to a point now where I hate even opening my email because I know it will contain hundreds of spam messages.
