I'm looking for a way to get rid of old files completely from the document list, not just hide them from displaying. All I"m seeing is how to reduce the number to be displayed. I have multiple copies of old resumes to delete. (All in different ways of a file name).

For office 2003 you have to go to the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab. Clear the Recently used file list check box, and then click OK.
The list of recently used files is cleared, and no history of your file usage is kept.

To start a new history of recently used files, do the following:
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
Select the Recently used file list check box, and then click OK.
