What is Trojan.Mournor
Trojan.Mournor is a Trojan horse that modifies system files and drops other files on to the compromised computer. The threat may arrive on the compromised computer as a file that looks similar to an image file icon.
Once executed, the Trojan.Mournor copies the original Windows explorer.exe application to the following locations:
* %System%\explorer.exe
* %Windir%\explorer.exe[15 RANDOM NUMBERS]
Then it copies itself to the following locations:
* %System%\SERVICES.EXE
* %System%\SYSANALYSIS.EXE
* %SystemDrive%\Mourn_Operator.exe
It also creates an autorun file so that it executes the mourn_operator.exe file automatically:
%SystemDrive%\AUTORUN.INF
Trojan.Mournor may also drop some non-malicious temporary files in the following folder:
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp
The Trojan will delete the following file to prevent Windows File Protection from restoring the original Windows explorer.exe file:
%System%\dllcache\explorer.exe
The Trojan modifies the following Windows file with a copy of itself, so that it runs every time the explorer program starts:
%Windir%\explorer.exe
The Trojan may add registry entries in the following registry subkey:
