Backlinks are the lifeline of blogs and websites. They give you traffic, they give you exposure and more importantly, they give you the much needed Google Juice, which is so important to rank up in SERP.
Given the importance of Backlinks, they are probably hardest thing to gain. People follow all sorts of practices to get Backlinks including link exchange, buying links etc.
I have recently written a guest post for CourtneyTurtle.com, which was well received. In this post I have aired my way of link exchanges.
Yet another popular method of getting backlinks to your blog is by commenting on blogs, which have rel=”nofollow” attribute removed from their comments section. There are lots and lots of them, and this method is an easy one to get some crucial backlinks to your blog.
But, how to find good dofollow blogs
There are many ways, read on. But the best one is probably the last one.
1. Use DoFollow lists: Web Tools and tips is also a dofollow blog and it also shows some link love to the fellow dofollow blogs by maintaining a list of dofollow blogs. You can use that list, or similar lists on other blogs.
2. Use CommentKahuna: This is a small downloadable program, which I found from John Cow’s blog. After download, you have to enter a keyword into it, and it claims to search for the blog posts for that keyword from the dofollow blogs. Then you can choose, where to comment and thus earn a backlink. The benefit is that, the backlink you earned is from a blog which is in the related niche as you, and so it is more important.
But, when I used it, I found that the many of the blogs, which were found by CommentKahuna for me, were actually carrying a rel=”external nofollow” attribute, which is as good as nofollow. So it was useless for me, although many of the John Cow visitors have praised it highly.

3. Use DoFollo.com: This is a website, which is acting just perfect for me. It finds quality dofollow blogs, for the keyword of your choice and you can easily comment on them. Certainly a website worth considering, if you don’t think it to be an unethical method of earning backlinks for your blog.
What is your take, let us know.

If you are going round dropping any old spam on do follow blogs. Then yes it is un-ethical, not to mention as always these spammers ruin it for the rest of the bloggers that have something worth saying.

I think all blogs should have the nofollo attribute removed. The owner of the blog should just be more vigilante when approving comments instead of just adding the nofollo tag in some attempt to stop people spamming. Spammers wont check to see if you follow or not so what is the point?

Its very hard to get backlinks now a days. One should concentrate on naturally generated backlinks or links to your website. Just concentrete on the quality of the content posted on your website, the rest will be on viewer disposal. If they like your post, you will be rewarded otherwise you have to wait more.

Hi nice post
However you need to clarify that using blog commenting to generate backlinks should be done ethically.
If you are going to get a link from the site, the least you should do is leave a valid comment that adds to the conversation
I think that social bookmarking is a better way of generating backlinks to your site
A site like http://niche.qassia.com allows you to set up a profile, submit intel and build do follow backlinks to your websites. It’s pretty neat really but is by referal only [Sorry, but check it out anyway]
Also article submission is a time tested method of generating backlinks that works everytime
Sites like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com and http://niche.qassia.com are article directories that I have had good results with

June 10th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Hi uricacid
Forums and blogs are two different things but you question is how does this help traffic from the search engines
The answer is in the anchors you use for your links
If it is a do follow blog or forum, the search engine bots will read this as the other site giving your site reputation for the term in your anchor
This boosts your position in the search engine results pages
Hope this was useful

Don’t be too much worried about links. It is usually considered that the more links Google sees, the more traffic you get. But back links can easily be achieved by keeping fresh and unique and original content on the site. A site that has freshly and regularly updated content attracts more traffic. If users are impressed and satisfied with your content they will automatically cast a vote. The most important thing is not code, not page rank but the content. It is said “Content is the king” The greatest challenge should be to create websites that are useful to others. Palcomonline.com

I have tested Comment Kahuna. It is a great research tool to find “some” dofollow blogs, and many that simply do not allow comments. Still, it saves a lot of time. The key to using any tool like this is to not prefill the actual comment space. Rather, let it prefil your contact info, then add something meaningful to the post.
DoFollo is new to me. I will check it out.

Most of those dofollow blogs and dofollow forums I have already worked on but there are a few that we can’t use. Backlinks are such a time consuming bore chore but a necessary fact of working and gaining visiblity on the web. The commentor’s over here helped me change the way i was actually seeing all these dofollow thing. I hate spammers too. I allow links to follow so I get a lot of spammers writing comments that are never allowed. Any idea why spammers seem to be hawking drugs, gambling and sex ??
I am personally awaiting the day some spammer hawks something genuinely useful and not strange or illegal. How about you?

This is good post, there is a slight contention their in regards to obtaining your own backlinks, although with such big players in the industry it can be quite a sound way of getting noticed.

When I tried to log on to family pc, a box saying “there are not sufficient resources to load” my account with the default something-or-other popped up. The message had a timer that was going to close the message, and then when it closed it would not log me on. I could not turn it off normally so I cut the power. When I turned it back on I logged on fine?
I read here Worcester PC Repair but couldnt make sense?
