In many such cases, you can discover the true intentions of the software, if you care to spare a few moments to read the EULA, the End User License Agreement at the time of installation.

Paul Boutin at a Tech Blog on New York Times has carried a controversial post Five Controversial Ways to Speed Your PC.
Paul has apparently been using Norton 360 for protecting his systems from Online Security threats and has experienced a lot of slowdown in the system performance.
Symantec Norton 360 spent so much time trying to protect me from problems I’ll never have that it dragged my Toshiba’s performance to a crawl. I tried turning it off, but it kept rising from the dead. So I uninstalled it. Instant speed boost. I blame my fellow journalists for overhyping the threat of online viruses and malware.
This advice may have some serious repurcussions. I do not say that it is a rash suggestion, Paul definitely must have given a serious thought before writing it. But my view is that Internet Security is not something, which you can compromise at any cost. Read the full story

CAPTCHA (an acronym for Completely Automated Public Test to distinguish Computers and Humans Apart) is the de-facto standard for websites to stop spam. Every form, where users like me and you can input their details, are littered with the these dirty looking numbers and alphabets, which sometimes are too hard to interpret and often lead to user frustration.
If you are an owner of a non-profit site, then the use of CAPTCHA is fine, but for profit organizations and companies, who are always in a race to bring visitors to the website and persuade them to fill the details, CAPTCHAs are just a pain in the ass. For them, it is very pinching, if the user turns away getting frustrated for not being able to interpret the CAPTCHA letters in first, second or third attempt. The website owner just cannot cannot afford to loose a potential customer just because of those ugly, twisted letters and numbers.

Keith is celebrating the 3rd birthday of his blog Techie-Buzz.com and boy, there is a lot on offer. Its huge. $4500 worth of prizes to be won. And the response is tremendous.
It is both a happy and sad day for me.
Happy because, Keith is one of the first few persons I have met during the start of my blogging journey. I have witnessed the the good times and some bad patches in the life of techie-buzz.com. And today, I am as happy as Keith, feeling the celebrations.
And sad, because, the rules of the event celebration do not allow me to participate in the bash. Yes, I am disqualified to win the prizes being a co-author of the techie-buzz.com. See my posts on techie-buzz.com.
